Topic: My router's Dynamic DNS update settings - doesn't seem to connect

by Olivier Kovacs on Wednesday, January 18, 2017
Hi there.
I understand you can't give support for my router!
What I'm looking for is confirmation that my settings are right.
I have D-Link router (DIR-859 - FW:1.04) and want to setup the Dynamic DNS update.
The settings I have configured are as follows - could you confirm I have the right info here because it can't seem to connect:
- Type: Manual
- Server Address: api.dynu.com
- Host Name: [mydomain].com
- User Name : [user ID I use to connect to http://www.dynu.com]
- Password : [Password that goes with the above account]
- Time out : 24 hours
Whenever I save the settings, it tells me it is "disconnected". I checked the "Last update" from the Dynamic DNS Service page on your site, but it doesn't seem to update.
Thanks for your help!

Ho Owen.
No, I didn't have any fix - the config is right as per support, but the router doesn't work with these settings.
If you ever figure it out, please leave a reply here.
thanks!

Hi Olivier
No.......I've beat my brains out, changing everything I can think of, but still nothing !
Don't know if there's any connection, but Dynu's port check gives a fail message....again I've tried changing everything I can think of, but no joy.
OK....don't expect Dynu to know every model of router, but this one is quite recent & works perfectly in every other way.
I'll try Dynu support again & see if I can get something more intelligent than "The settings are correct but please make sure that you are using ol*********mx as username instead of your email address.......whatever that means....!!!!!
